Fighting Nazi Scum with the #MagicResistance

This mass ritual takes place in the evening (any time) on Sunday, May 5th or any new moon thereafter. The spell is adapted from the Fuck Fascists working, which may be found in my book, Magic for the Resistance: Rituals and Spells for Change. The ritual requires a bit of preparation, but takes only a few minutes and is extremely powerful.

Hexing Nazis to Save the United States of America

I think we’ve all had enough of this soulless, empty-eyed, white-power-sign-throwing ghoul. He’s Trump’s Grima Wormtongue, responsible for the poisonous policies that are tearing immigrant children from their parents and locking them in cages (where some of them have been sexually abused and later fucking lost).

Some people deserve more than a binding spell. Much more.

So please join the thousands of patriots in the #MagicResistance as we embark on our latest working to accelerate the karma of one of the most revolting Nazi punks in recent history.

As always, you don’t need to be a witch to join us. Magic belongs to everyone, and even those who have never done spellwork can be very effective. And if you’re worried about the Threefold Law of Wicca or some other proscription against cursing or hexing, I’d like you to imagine being one of those parents fleeing violence and poverty only to have your child—your flesh and blood—ripped from your hands, never to be returned to you.

Now imagine being that innocent child and suffering a life of trauma courtesy of Miller’s warped, fascist ideology. And multiply that pain and horror by hundreds of children.

What would you say to those children if they asked you why you didn’t act in the face of evil?

As I wrote in my book, Magic for the Resistance: Rituals and Spells for Change:

Don’t hex until you’ve exhausted all other options. But when all other options fail and the cost of failure is measured in innocent lives, don’t be afraid to do what you need to do.

So fuck Stephen Miller and the toxic, xenophobic, inhumane, regressive forces he represents.

It’s time to play hardball, witches.

Timing: You can perform this spell any time, but please try to join us on the evening of the new moon, Sunday, May 5th. Waning and dark moons are the traditional times for cursing and hexing.

If you don’t have the listed components, please join us anyway! Use what you have, adapt creatively, or just read the ritual aloud.

Components:

  • Matches or lighter
  • Pen or marker
  • Pin or nail (for inscribing candle)
  • Small white candle (a stub is fine). It must be small enough to easily fit into the jar with plenty of room to spare.
  • Small container of vinegar or Crossing Oil
  • Hyssop Oil*, Power Oil*, olive oil, or your preferred blessing oil (Note: I’ve been informed that hyssop essential oil can cause seizures in epileptics, so take that into consideration).
  • Large black candle (must be substantially larger than the white candle—a pillar candle is perfect)
  • Incense (I favor frankincense or copal burned on charcoal, but use your favorite protection/blessing incense)
  • Glass jar with a tight-fitting lid
  • 9 sewing needles
  • Small piece of glass, shiny metal, or mirror
  • Small container of salt (or black salt, if you have it)
  • Small container of red pepper (ground or flakes)
  • Printed photo of Stephen Miller (you can the photo above, which is imprinted with the widely used Trump binding sigils)

*see below for oil recipes

Preparation

Gather the materials and arrange them on your altar or working space. Unscrew the lid and place it next to the jar.

  1. With the marker or pen, write the following words from Psalm 1:4–6 on the photo of Miller (write across his image), saying it aloud as you write it:

The ungodly are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Finish by drawing an X through each of his eyes and across his mouth, then place the photo in the center of your altar.

2. Using the pin or nail, carve the name Stephen Miller into the white candle. Feel each stroke as if it’s literally cutting into Miller.

3. Dress the white candle with vinegar (in other words, simply use your fingers to wipe a thin layer of vinegar across the candle’s entire surface. You don’t need to use too much.) Feel disdain and disgust for it, the stronger the better. Leave it in the center of your altar atop the photo, then go wash your hands. Leave the remainder of the vinegar in the container on your altar.

4. Dress the black candle with Hyssop Oil, Power Oil, or plain olive oil. This candle represents people of color, immigrants, minorities, LGBTQ+, and all those targeted by white supremacists, so feel their presence as you dress the candle. Place the black candle behind (from your perspective) the small white candle, visually overshadowing and overpowering it.

5. With the remainder of the oil on your fingers, say a prayer to your deity(s) as you touch the crown of your head, your third eye, your lips, and the centers of your palms. Ask for protection for the important work you are about to undertake.

6. Center yourself and sit quietly for a moment. Reach out mentally to all those working to save our country and our planet, especially those taking part concurrently in this ritual .Then light your incense and begin.

Ritual

  1. Light the black candle, saying aloud:

You are powerful. You are strong. You are courageous and protected and loved.

Feel the power radiating from the candle. This is our common humanity. All colors, all races, all sexes and genders—all one great mixture.

2. Light the inscribed white candle, saying aloud (with as much contempt as you can summon):

You, Stephen Miller, born August 23, 1985 in Santa Monica, California, are powerless. You are pathetic. You are impotent. You are cowardly and a liar.

Say:

Fuck you, you empty, broken shell. Your spirit is forfeit.

Blow out the white candle.

3. Pick up one of the sewing needles. Hold its point briefly in the black candle’s flame to heat it, then push it into the white candle, saying:

May the suffering you have inflicted upon the innocent return upon you ninefold.

Repeat with each of the remaining needles until all nine are embedded.

4. Pick up the punctured and disgraced white candle and drop it in the jar.

5. Pick up the shiny metal/mirror/glass and hold it in front of you. Say:

May your hateful, violent thoughts and ideology turn upon you and your followers and consume you.

Drop the shiny object into the jar.

6. Pick up a pinch of salt (or black salt). Hold it in front of you and say:

May you be driven from the halls of power and banished into darkness and ignominy.

7. Pick up the container of red pepper. Hold it in front of you and say:

May all the pain, and fear, and hatred you have unleashed return and plague you, without respite, until the end of your days.

Dump the pepper into the jar.

8. Hold the container of vinegar in front of you and say:

May you choke on your poisonous, hateful words until your voice is but the whisper of a ghost

Pour some vinegar into the jar.

9. Finally, pick up the photo and hold it in front of you. Say:

I curse you, Stephen Miller, and bind you in this hellish trap of your own making. I call upon the spirits, protectors, and ancestors of those who have suffered from your poisonous words and malignant acts to bind you, and torment you, without ceasing, until the end of your miserable days upon this holy earth.

10. Crumble up the paper and drop it into the jar. Say, with passionate intensity:

And thus you are bound and imprisoned, Stephen Miller, in the name of justice and righteousness! Amen, selah, so mote it be!

11. Place the lid on the jar. Pick up the black candle and, carefully tilting the jar, use the dripping wax to create a seal around the edges of the lid. As you’re doing so, imagine the screams and cries of Stephen Miller as his fate is sealed.

When the jar is completely sealed with the black wax, drip some of the wax on top of the lid, then set the candle atop the jar. Make sure it is sturdy and affixed in place atop the lid.

12. Fold your hands into a prayer position, gaze upon the black candle flame and say:

May hatred be extinguished, and love prevail, always. So mote it be.

13. Blow out the candle. Clap three times, ending the ritual.

14. Ground per your tradition. I suggest shaking your body vigorously, jumping in place, slapping your hands lightly all over your skin, and then having a bite to eat and a drink.

After Ritual

Take a purifying salt bath or shower (table salt is fine) and say a prayer to your deity(s) while the salt water cleanses you. Pray for the safety and comfort of those suffering from Stephen Miller’s policies, especially the immigrant parents and children, and the triumph of love and compassion over hateful ideologies.

Disposal

Dispose of the whole thing (spell jar and candle) when you are done the ritual, by burying it in a desolate location far from your home or leaving in a garbage can or dumpster at a four-way crossroads. Treat it as if it’s toxic (because it is) and don’t leave it where anyone can find and open it.

Energetic Bonus

Donate to an immigrant protection group or an organization fighting xenophobia and white supremacy. I highly recommend RAICES, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees.

You may also want to do the No Borders, All One Family: Invocation to Hermes ritual, which may be found in my book and is designed to protect all immigrants and refugees fleeing harm.

Hyssop Oil and Power Oil

Hyssop Oil is made by adding one part hyssop herb to 3 parts vegetable oil (olive or any carrier oil). It will develop a pleasant vegetal scent. Power Oil is composed of one part hyssop, one part Angelica root, and one High John the Conqueror root in an oil base (twice the amount of oil as dried ingredients).
Important note: according to an herbalist, hyssop essential oil can cause seizures in epileptics, so if you are epileptic, please avoid.
